Turf Care Division · Entry Level — No Experience Required

Turf Care Technician in Training

Northern Virginia Full-Time $18 – $20 / hour

Start your career in the turf care industry with paid, hands-on training. You'll ride along with our experienced technicians and learn professional lawn fertilization, weed control, and every other service we offer — all while preparing to take the Virginia Registered Technician exam and step up to Technician Level 1.

What you'll do

  • Train alongside experienced technicians on real customer lawns every day
  • Learn professional fertilization and weed control application techniques
  • Get hands-on with spreaders, sprayers, and the rest of our equipment
  • Learn lawn health fundamentals: turf types, weeds, diseases, and treatment timing
  • Help complete daily service routes and deliver a great customer experience
  • Study for the Virginia Registered Technician exam with our support

What we're looking for

  • No lawn care experience required — we'll teach you everything
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Enjoy working outdoors and staying active
  • Reliable, coachable, and detail-oriented
  • Interest in earning your Registered Technician certification

Turf Care Division · Certified Technician

Turf Care Technician — Level 1

Northern Virginia Full-Time $20 – $23 / hour

Run your own route as a certified technician. Level 1 is for technicians who have passed the Registered Technician exam and can work independently — or you can be hired directly into this role with the requirement to pass the exam within your first 30 days. It's a great fit if you have prior green industry experience (landscaping, mowing, tree care), even without fertilization or weed control experience.

What you'll do

  • Complete a daily route of residential fertilization and weed control services independently
  • Apply fertilizer and weed control treatments accurately and safely
  • Identify common weeds, turf diseases, and lawn health issues in the field
  • Communicate professionally with customers on their properties
  • Keep your truck and equipment clean, stocked, and well-maintained

What we're looking for

  • Virginia Registered Technician exam passed — or pass it within 30 days of hire (we'll help you prepare)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage your day
  • Prior green industry experience is a plus — fertilization/weed control experience not required
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

Turf Care Division · Senior Technician

Turf Care Technician — Level 2

Northern Virginia Full-Time $24 – $26 / hour

Our senior-level technician role. Level 2 technicians are the backbone of our turf care operation — responsible for applying fertilizer and weed control at a high level using ride-on and stand-on spreader-sprayers, and setting the standard for quality on every lawn they touch.

What you'll do

  • Apply fertilization and weed control treatments as our most trusted field expert
  • Operate ride-on and stand-on spreader-sprayers and other professional equipment
  • Handle the most complex properties and toughest lawn challenges
  • Mentor trainees and Level 1 technicians in the field
  • Uphold Simply Turf's quality standards on every single property

What we're looking for

  • Virginia Registered Technician certification
  • Proven fertilization and weed control application experience
  • Experience with ride-on / stand-on spreader-sprayers strongly preferred
  • Fully independent, dependable, and quality-driven
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Turf Care Division · Seasonal Position

Aeration Technician

Northern Virginia Seasonal (September – October) Up to $22 / hour, based on experience

Join us for our busy fall aeration and overseeding season. Working independently or paired with another technician, you'll run our Stinger stand-on aerators and other equipment to help hundreds of Northern Virginia lawns get thicker and healthier heading into winter.

What you'll do

  • Perform core aeration and overseeding services on residential lawns
  • Operate Stinger stand-on aerators and other aeration equipment
  • Work independently or alongside another technician to complete daily routes
  • Load, unload, and maintain equipment safely
  • Represent Simply Turf professionally on customers' properties

What we're looking for

  • Prior experience with aerators or similar outdoor power equipment is a plus
  • Comfortable with physical, outdoor work through the fall season
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Available September through October
